OTTAWA — Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is pledging not to introduce the kind of union-opposed legislation he championed as a Harper government member of Parliament if he becomes prime minister. It’s part of what he says is an evolution in his thinking on labour unions.

Poilievre’s change of heart comes as Air Canada is prepared to start shutting down its operations beginning Sunday if the Air Line Pilots Association issues a 72-hour strike notice. There has been pressure from business groups across the country for the federal government to intervene and prevent the strike from happening.
