Giuseppe Violi, 53, whose father was a prominent Montreal Mafia boss, was granted full parole from prison this week, where he was serving a sentence for serious drug importation.

“Notwithstanding the serious nature of your offending and your affiliation with a criminal organization, the Board notes you have accepted responsibility for your offending, you have completed required programming to mitigate your risk, and you have demonstrated positive change,” the Parole Board of Canada told Violi in a written decision, dated April 9.
