It’s entirely possible to goggle at how stupid and hateful people can be while defending their right to be stupid and hateful. As challenging as that position is — and boy, is it — it’s the right one to take as college students across the U.S. join protests that go far beyond questioning Israel’s response to the murderous October 7 assault by Hamas, and explicitly challenge the Jewish state’s right to exist.
