A new study released this week indicates exposure to invisible and odourless radon gas is increasing across Canada, adding to concern about its effect on human health.

The latest Cross-Canada Radon Survey, research carried out by the Evict Radon National Study team in collaboration with Health Canada and other entities suggests that one in five Canadians – about 18 per cent – live in homes with levels at or above Health Canada’s currently prescribed safe amount of 200 Becquerels per cubic metre (Bq/m3).
