TORONTO — A new report on Canada’s radio airwaves says music performed by women is still vastly underrepresented on commercial music stations.

The 10-year study released Monday looked at the top 150 radio tracks each year starting in 2013, plus all tunes played in 2023 on some of the most popular radio formats including Top 40, country and rock music.

It found that no matter the format, songs by women — especially women of colour — were played far less than songs by men.
