It is one clear way in which Carney is measurably better than his predecessor, Justin Trudeau, who would have recoiled at the thought of inviting the King over, for fear of appearing to endorse Canada’s colonial past. Carney, for his part, is suggesting he understands that the projection of legitimate authority must be grounded in first principles.
