The solar storms that produced stunning displays of northern lights across Canada and even as far south as Florida last week are over for now. But the sun may not done with us yet.

“The level of activity on the sun actually follows about an 11-year cycle, we call it the solar cycle, and right now we’re in a period of solar maximum,” says Dr. Robyn Fiori of the Canadian Hazards Information Service at Natural Resources Canada.
