It’s been a week of sadness turned to hope. On the heels of heartbreaking memorial ceremonies commemorating October 7 around the world, Israel signed the first phase of a U.S.-brokered ceasefire plan with Hamas, almost two years to the day. This war is far from over, but bringing the hostages home defines the very character of our people: The Jewish tradition commands us: “He who saves one life, it is as if he has saved an entire world.”
