Bird flu has killed millions of laying hens, driving egg prices to record highs south of the border. In an effort to reduce the cost, the United States has reportedly nearly doubled imports of Brazilian eggs once reserved for making pet food. Avian influenza has also infected hundreds of people, including a B.C. teen, and scientists are increasingly concerned about the spread in mammals.
