On June 30, Toronto’s annual Pride parade was brought to a standstill and then ended early when a small group of self-professed queer and trans activists, known as the Coalition Against Pinkwashing, held a pro-Palestine protest quite literally in the middle of the country’s largest Pride parade.

Around 30 protesters set up a blockade in the centre of the procession route, and shouted at attendees and parade participants alike, with slogans such as, “Free Palestine” and “Pride partners with genocide!”
