No matter how much we cover up during fall and winter, the dry, cool weather still manages to take its toll on the skin, including the scalp. Trust me, I know, I wear a hijab and my scalp still suffers.
During the cooler months, humidity drops both outdoors and indoors and the cold, dry air is typically paired with constant heating. This causes a lack of moisture and oil production in the scalp resulting in dryness, flaking, itchiness, inflammation and overall irritation. To sum it up, the scalp is being dehydrated and in turn the hair suffers too.
