Drivers were hit with lengthy delays following a crash on a major motorway.

Police closed several lanes on the M6 due to the collision. Lanes have now been reopened.

Pictures showed huge queues tailing back at least six miles.

Still delays but traffic moving

The traffic choas has eased following the reopening of all lanes.

But motorists are still reporting delays following the earlier tailbacks.

Lancashire Road Police remain at the scene.

All lanes now open

All the lanes have now reopened - but delays of up to an hour remain.

In a post on X, National Highways announced: "Recovery complete and all lanes now open on the #M6 southbound between J31A and J31 near #Preston.

"Delays of up to 60 minutes and approx. 5 miles of congestion remain."
