Ever since their repudiation at the polls in November, those on the left have been casting about in a frantic search for meaning. Stranded on the empty political beachhead, they watched as a tsunami rolled in — and for a time, they wallowed in confusion.  It was a “What just happened?” moment that sent them down several rabbit holes, searching for who or what to blame: It was the men, it was the women, it was racism. But every time they emerged from any of these holes, they resurfaced empty-handed. Desperate for relevance, they have predictably turned to a tried-and-true old friend: the riot.

With Mexican flags billowing in the black smoke, many supporters on the left found a place to wear their “Make America a Mess Again” hats. And what better place than Los Angeles, home to the Watts Rebellion in 1965. The mayhem in the neighborhood of Watts resulted in an estimated 34 deaths and millions of dollars in damage. In 1992, even Rodney King issuing his famed “Can’t we all get along?” remark wasn’t enough to stop the rampage in which 55 people reportedly died. Then, in the summer of 2020, the streets of LA – and American flags — were once again set on fire. Who perpetrated these national conflagrations? Why, the left, of course.

All this fun and frolic in La La Land leads us to last week. Moving back in time, it’s easy to see how things got out of control and who was revving up the riot engine in the City of Angels. On Sunday, June 8, approximately 300 National Guard troops were mobilized by President Donald Trump. A confrontation between the Guard and demonstrators took place, which resulted in dramatic footage of protesters and federal troops fighting in the streets. Tear gas was spewed, plastic riot shields were employed, and arrests were made. Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom sent a letter to Trump, taking umbrage with sending in the Guard, calling the action a “serious breach of state sovereignty.”

Now, one might ask: What happened in Los Angeles on Thursday, June 5, that could have precipitated all this chaos? Well, that’s quite interesting, and you’d be hard-pressed to find out about it from the left-wing news media. That day, the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) held a press conference to “protest the roundups,” according to the New York Post. CHIRLA reps also told The Post, “We have not participated, coordinated, or been part of the protests being registered in Los Angeles other than the press conference and rally … “

It must have been just another happy coincidence for the left, then, when riots broke out in LA on Friday. So, who or what is CHIRLA? After digging through their financial records, DataRepublican (small r) posted on X that CHIRLA is a non-profit that gets most of its money from the US taxpayer to the tune of $34 million as of 2023. The organization’s website notes:

“CHIRLA members help make change possible, to achieve a just society fully inclusive of immigrants. Members take part in trainings and actions that empower them as community leaders. They march, share their stories with lawmakers, knock on doors, make calls, and provide the fuel that makes our movement run.”

Founded in 1986, CHIRLA boasts that it is a “California leader with national impact made of diverse immigrant families and individuals who act as agents of social change to achieve a world with freedom of mobility, full human rights, and true participatory democracy.” According to a search engine query, “CHIRLA’s mission is to achieve a just society fully inclusive of immigrants.”

Others are acting behind the scenes as well. PSLWEB/Party for Socialism and Liberation printed posters held by protesters. A report issued by the Network Contagion Research Institute links the PSL to Neville Singham and his wife, Jodie Evans. According to The Post, the enormously wealthy couple is widely known for advancing the socialist agenda. Jodie is the founder of the group known as Code Pink.

As the left digs into its deep pockets to foment the chaos in LA, the politicos on the left are coming in right behind them. This weekend, Kamala Harris issued a statement that included this pearl: “Protest is a powerful tool – essential in the fight for justice.“  Meanwhile, California Gov. Gavin Newsom has been ratcheting up the anti-Trump rhetoric, calling him a “stone-cold liar” and accusing him of increasing the violence by calling out the National Guard to restore order.

Somehow, this all sounds so familiar. Leftist organizations foment riots with the help of high-dollar donors, claim the violence is due to heavy law enforcement presence, and the taxpayers pay the bill for the whole mess. We’ve seen this leftist movie before, and it never ends well.
