Former President Donald Trump has filed an appeal with the Supreme Court of the United States asking that the ruling from the Colorado Supreme Court that he be removed from the Republican presidential primary ballot be overturned. On December 19, the Colorado panel of judges delivered a 4-3 verdict stating that Trump had “engaged” in “insurrection” on January 6, 2021 and that he was, therefore, disqualified from appearing on the ballot under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment. Trump’s legal team argues that the judges ruled wrongly and misapplied the law.
