When special counsel John Durham wrapped up his investigation into the FBI’s handling of the discredited conspiracy theory involving then-presidential candidate Donald Trump and Moscow, his final report was made public. It revealed that, in fact, Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign team concocted the Trump-Russia collusion story and then, through a law group, contracted strategic intelligence firm Fusion GPS to gather opposition research that would tie Trump to Russia. But an annex to the Durham report was classified and kept from the public. That annex has now been provided to the Senate Judiciary Committee. It reveals, among other things, that the scandal now known as Russiagate was helped along by at least one individual associated with the Open Society Foundation, established by none other than George Soros.

“Julie (Clinton Campaign Advisor) says it will be a long-term affair to demonize Putin and Trump. Now it is good for a post-convention bounce,” wrote the individual that the annex identifies as Benardo. “Later the FBI will put more oil into the fire.”

This email was written before the FBI opened its Crossfire Hurricane counterintelligence operation targeting the Trump campaign. An utterly uncanny bit of foresight? Or did the writer of this email have some insider knowledge of then-FBI Director Jim Comey’s intentions? More sinister still – but entirely speculative and not based on any publicly available evidence – was Comey taking direction from Soros? Did someone from the Open Society Foundation reach out to the director and “suggest” he open an investigation?

At this point, with the Russiagate scandal touching so many powerful people, it is difficult to rule anything out.

Citing a source familiar with the contents of the Durham appendix, Fox News Digital reported that Benardo also apparently wrote, “During the first stage of the campaign, due to lack of direct evidence, it was decided to disseminate the necessary information through the FBI-affiliated…technical structures… in particular, the Crowdstrike and ThreatConnect companies, from where the information would then be disseminated through leading U.S. publications.”

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, is heading an ever-expanding Russiagate probe. Among those now implicated are Clinton, former President Barack Obama and his entire National Security Council, multiple intelligence community (IC) officials, and now perhaps also George Soros, who has worked tirelessly for at least the last three decades to destabilize the United States.

Additionally, of course, all the leading US news organizations are implicated for their role in spreading the Russian collusion hoax across the American electorate – without ever questioning its authenticity.

Former CIA Director John Brennan, one of the top IC officials to have personally overseen the creation of a 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment highlighting faulty “intelligence” that the Russians worked to influence the election, seems a little nervous. If his hands were clean, one might reasonably expect he would be saying, “Go ahead and investigate, do your worst, I have nothing to hide.” Yet, during a recent MSNBC interview, he said, speaking of the Russiagate probe and criminal referrals to the Department of Justice, “I just like to think that professionals in the Department of Justice and FBI and other places are not going to carry on this, what I think is an absurd effort.”

Notably, not one single person who, in 2016, was part of the Obama administration and named in the Russiagate probe has directly denied the allegations made against them. That includes Obama himself. They are simply continuing to insist that their intelligence was sound and that the Russians were indeed trying to influence that year’s presidential election to favor Trump.

This, even though no one has ever produced hard evidence to support that contention. Also, several former lower-level IC officials have gone on record with the objections they raised at the time – precisely because they had seen no credible intelligence pointing to Russia helping the Trump campaign.

“History will show that the Obama and Biden administration’s law enforcement and intelligence agencies were weaponized against President Trump,” Sen. Grassley said on July 31. “This political weaponization has caused critical damage to our institutions and is one of the biggest political scandals and cover-ups in American history.” The senator added, “The new Trump administration has a tremendous responsibility to the American people to fix the damage done and do so with maximum speed and transparency.”
