The attacks against Robert F Kennedy Jr. throughout his campaign for US president and during his nomination for Health and Human Services secretary have not abated. Detractors criticize him personally for a litany of alleged transgressions, in the style of Kennedy Derangement Syndrome (KDS). To counter the slanderous claims about Kennedy’s policies and reach more Americans with positive developments, a new nonprofit called MAHA Action has been established. On July 21, an energetic event in Washington, DC, launched the initiative with an impassioned lineup of influential speakers.

Hosted at the upscale Ned’s Club in President’s Park, MAHA Action was kicked off by the organization’s president, attorney Tony Lyons.  He outlined the nonprofit’s mission to disseminate the truth about HHS Secretary Kennedy’s policy prescriptions, countering the barrage of disinformation from corporate-influenced mainstream media.

Following Lyons’  brief introduction and an optimistic greeting from event co-sponsor Leigh Merinoff, British comedian/actor/activist Russell Brand took the microphone with accustomed high-octane intensity, lamenting the corporate domination of the modern food supply. An intriguing personality to feature prominently in the new MAHA organization, he is an unabashed Kennedy fan.

Entertaining the crowd with energy that would tire a hummingbird, Brand likened the current food rights battle to the American Revolution against the Royal Crown. A recent convert to Christianity, he invoked divine guidance and protection for the MAHA Action cause.

Though a decidedly difficult act to follow, Brand set the tone for subsequent speakers who appeared infected by his intensity and positivity. HHS adviser Calley Means praised Kennedy for doing battle daily against the corporate forces that have grown comfortable dominating grocery shelves, doctors’ offices, and TV advertising. Moms Across America’s Zen Honeycutt championed Kennedy’s coattails as a means to achieve her long-sought improvements to baby food and school lunches. Nutrition guru Dr. Eric Berg praised healthier foods and diets as the pathway to combating disease in America.

The firebrand Kennedy has shown fortitude in the face of corporate hegemony, pushing for more thorough studies of vaccines and food additives, better assessments of pesticides’ effects on humans and the ecosystem, elimination of food dyes, improved government recommendations on diet and exercise, reducing children’s exposure to harmful social media, and a plethora of other important initiatives to Make America Healthy Again. A career environmental attorney tarnished by controversy over his claims that vaccines may contribute to autism, the Kennedy scion joined Donald Trump on the eve of the 2024 election, rallying a bipartisan swell around Americans’ health that boosted the president’s performance at the ballot box.

Like his promises on immigration, trade tariffs, and international policy, President Trump has pushed hard to deliver on his health initiatives to the American electorate. By nominating the controversial Kennedy for HHS secretary, the president kept his word to his MAHA base, which differs demographically from the much-maligned MAGA crew. MAHA includes many disenchanted Democrats and all-important independent voters who have their own set of demands – not a fixation on the Epstein files but relief from the industrial chokehold over food supplies.

Lyons captured these concerns in comments reported by The Hill, noting, “President Trump and Secretary Kennedy have shown incredible courage in taking on powerful interests and putting the health of American families first.” Lyons threw down the MAHA gantlet by openly declaring the new nonprofit’s core mission: “This is our way of saying thank you for their leadership and ensuring Congress knows that the American people, that millions of MAHA moms and advocates are behind these critical reforms … MAHA Action will amplify the voices demanding an end to the corruption that has led to the chronic disease epidemic, to an existential health crisis.”

Monday’s kickoff event was saturated with optimism; notably absent was anti-Trump rancor or even political division – this is a bipartisan alliance of experienced influencers, nutrition experts, and food rights activists who share common policy goals. There is a pronounced loyalty to Kennedy and his avowed determination to fight Big Food and Big Pharma alike.

MAHA Action will use evolving scientific evidence blended with grassroots populism to overcome mainstream media opposition to common-sense improvements to the nation’s food supplies, agricultural policies, and healthcare systems. Entrenched multinational food and chemical corporations understandably view Kennedy and his tenacious MAHA movement as a threat to their profits and power.

If the exuberant inaugural gathering at the Ned is a reliable barometer, more and more passionate influencers will be drawn to embrace MAHA action!
