Controversy over efforts to reduce fraud in the federal government roils daily headlines. The latest kerfuffle concerns layoffs of “Epidemic Intelligence Service officers,” or “disease detectives,” as the EIS calls them on its website. The firings followed Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s confirmation as Health and Human  Services secretary by mere hours, leading some Americans to howl foul while the opposing camp rooted for still more routing. EIS is part of the CDC (Centers for Disease Control), which now serves at the pleasure, or displeasure, of Secretary Kennedy.

The CDC touts itself as “the nation’s leading science-based, data-driven, service organization that protects the public’s health.” Americans face a far greater risk of being killed by a member of Tren de Aragua than the bird flu, but the CDC does not dispatch detectives to investigate gangs  – only asymptomatic cases of bird flu in veterinarians.

The CDC claims:

“CDC works 24/7 to protect America from health, safety and security threats, both foreign and in the U.S. Whether diseases start at home or abroad, are chronic or acute, curable or preventable, human error or deliberate attack, CDC fights disease and supports communities and citizens to do the same.”

That sounds quite heroic, but where was the CDC when COVID-19 broke out in China? Where were those vaunted disease detectives?

Dr. Anthony Fauci made repeated efforts to dismiss any assertions that the COVID-19 pandemic had any relation to gain-of-function research. Meanwhile, Vanity Fair published an article in June 2021 that traced COVID-19 specifically to bat virus studies at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, highlighting: “Throughout 2020, the notion that the novel coronavirus leaked from a lab was off-limits. Those who dared to push for transparency say toxic politics and hidden agendas kept us in the dark.”

Days later, The Wall Street Journal published “The Science Suggests a Wuhan Lab Leak: The Covid-19 pathogen has a genetic footprint that has never been observed in a natural coronavirus,” discussing the Wuhan Institute’s “work intentionally supercharging viruses to increase lethality (known as ‘gain-of-function’ research).”

In March 2023, the BBC reported that former CDC head Dr. Robert Redfield claimed he was sidelined over his COVID-19 origin views when he headed the agency during the outbreak:

“[Redfield] told the House select subcommittee … it was ‘not scientifically plausible’ to him that the virus had natural origins.

“’It was told to me that they wanted a single narrative, and that I obviously had a different point of view,’ he said. ‘Science has debate and they squashed any debate.’

“The House probe comes a week after FBI Director Christopher Wray said an unintentional lab incident was ‘most likely’ how Covid originated.

“A few days before that, the US Department of Energy said it had found the virus was most likely the result of a lab leak in Wuhan, but could only reach that conclusion with ‘low confidence.’”

The CIA also concluded COVID-19 most likely originated in a lab.

The CDC has avoided addressing the origins of COVID-19, to the relief of the multi-billion-dollar gain-of-function “stakeholders” that would suffer if the disease leaked from a Wuhan lab. Are mRNA vaccines salvific, or are they a money scam for Big Pharma to “rescue” humanity from the diseases created by microbial research? It is unclear where the CDC “detectives” were looking to solve the origin question.

Current bird flu fearmongering shows the “fear is here to stay.” However, many see Bobby Kennedy as better gain-of-function disease protector than social distancing or porous Chinese masks.

Fearmongering has included raging senatorial rants against Kennedy as a threat to vaccines. A recent headline spouted: “Dark day: The country is less safe. CDC disease detective program gutted. CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service is as critical to public health as it is revered.” Many Americans don’t share such reverence and see transparency and truth as critical.

CDC and Big Pharma are no longer immunized from scientific inquiry under the controversial new HHS secretary. When asked about CDC disease detectives on the dole, Kennedy cryptically answered: “If you’ve been involved in good science, you’ve got nothing to worry about. If you care about public health, you’ve got nothing to worry about.”

There’s a new HHS sheriff in town, watching the CDC detectives.
