Friday afternoon, February 2, Judge Tanya K. Chutkan delivered the good news for Donald Trump and his criminal defense and election efforts. Earlier this year, the Obama appointee to the federal bench scheduled Trump’s criminal trial on January 6 insurrection charges for March 4 – one day before Super Tuesday in the 2024 Republican primary. The new order cancels that trial and says a new date will be set if required by rulings in the appellate courts.
