A Manhattan jury found former President Donald Trump guilty on all 34 charges of falsifying business records in the first degree. The 34 counts came from 11 invoices, 12 vouchers, and 11 checks, all of which together formed Trump’s monthly reimbursement payments to Michael Cohen, who paid adult film star Stormy Daniels $130,000 for her silence about an alleged affair.
Judge Juan Merchan called the jury in at about 4:30 p.m. to dismiss them for the day, but the jury asked for another half hour to render the verdict. It was just after 5 p.m. when the verdicts were read. The jurors were then asked if they all agreed that the former president was guilty on all 34 charges, and they answered, “yes.” Trump’s attorney wanted the jury polled, meaning that each individual would be asked to confirm the guilty verdicts, which they did. Judge Merchan has set the sentencing date for July 11.
