Tyler Robinson, age 22, was indicted on Tuesday, September 16, for the premeditated murder of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk by Utah County prosecutor Jeffrey Gray. During a press conference in Provo, Utah, Gray announced that he would seek the death penalty. "I do not take this decision lightly, and it is a decision I have made independently as county attorney based solely on the available evidence and circumstances and nature of the crime," Gray said.
The indictment includes a series of additional charges: discharging a firearm, obstruction of justice, witness tampering and committing violence in the presence of children. The document presents a damning account for the suspect – physical evidence, DNA traces, confessions to those close to him and premeditation. However, as the prosecutor stated, "This case will be tried in a court of law consistent with our Constitution, not the court of public opinion."
