NextImg:'My dad will kill me': Ohio woman fighting to block father's release from prison

An Ohio woman is fighting to stop her father from getting out of prison after he was convicted in the 1989 murder of her mother.

I didn’t understand why, or why she wasn’t coming back, or why my dad wasn’t there either,” said Jennifer Johnson, who was 5 years old at the time.

Her father, Daniel Johnson, murdered her mother, Angela Johnson Florimonte, the day after Christmas.

“Christmases after that, we didn’t celebrate. It was too hard on the family,” said Jennifer.

But recently, Jennifer says, she got a letter from the Ohio Parole Board saying her father was being recommended for release.

That man has not shown remorse," she said. "I wrote him and asked him why. Never once did he apologize. He just blamed it all on my mom."

Angela Johnson was last seen walking out of the Delhi Township hardware store where she worked. Her family believes her husband kidnapped her as she was leaving.

“He didn’t just shoot her, he beat her to death. He raped her dead body,” said Jennifer.

Daniel, now 62, admitted to burying his wife on a Switzerland County farm and pleaded guilty to aggravated murder.

“He drove around with her body in the truck, with my brother in the car,” Jennifer said.

Daniel was sentenced to life in prison, but under the terms of his sentencing, was eligible for parole after serving just 20 years.

"He got life," said Jennifer. "Life should be the rest of his life, because I got a life sentence that I got to deal with with no mom and dad."

Jennifer says she’s petitioning the parole board for a hearing, so that she can convince them her father still poses a danger.

“My dad will kill me if he gets out, especially now, ‘cause I’m the only one fighting out of his kids,” she said.

On Monday, the Hamilton County prosecutor said she would ask the parole board to block the release. His name will also be added to the "Parole Watch" section of the prosecutor's website, which allows more people to email the board directly.

Daniel is currently being held at the Madison Correctional Institute in London, Ohio.
