On May 4th, 2021, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán delivered a fiery and impassioned speech at the first-ever Hungarian CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference). The conference, organized by the Mathias Corvinus Collegium, a conservative educational institution, was attended by conservative leaders and activists from Hungary and abroad.
Orbán’s speech was a powerful call to action, urging conservatives to unite and defend their values and national sovereignty against the progressive left-wing forces seeking to undermine them across the Western world. He criticized the liberal elites of Europe and the United States, whom he described as the “progressive virus,” and warned of their insidious influence. Orban argued that the COVID-19 pandemic has been weaponized by progressive forces to numb the brains of nations, demoralize their hearts, and paralyze their limbs.
According to Orbán, Hungary must serve as an incubator of resistance against these forces, lest they spread and destroy everything in their path. He warned of “progressive research labs” where the virus attacking the West is being developed to an ever-greater degree, mentioning Brussels and suggesting there are similar labs in the United States, owned by wealthy billionaires and progressive party foundations and think tanks.
Orbán also boasted about Hungary’s success in stopping migration at its borders and banning gender propaganda and the sexualization of children in schools. He argued that the popular will is the main weakness of the progressive forces and that democracy itself can be used to defeat them.
Orbán concluded his speech by calling for conservatives to take back the “sanctuaries” of modern democracy from the liberal elites. He urged conservatives to start with the media and educational system and then take the walls of power in Washington and Brussels. Orban’s message resonated with the audience at the Hungary CPAC, and his speech remains a powerful and influential statement in the ongoing political discourse.
In addition to his speech, Orbán also made remarks about progressive foreign policy, warning of its dangers and the threat of war it poses. He stated that progressive foreign policy always leads Western nations into war, bringing upheaval to countries in the name of exporting democracy and then either leaving or getting trapped in the disorder it created. Orbán referred to many such “color revolutions” that start with the slogan of freedom, continue with liberal-progressive re-education and human betterment, and end in chaos, disorder, and the disgrace of countries abandoned to their fate.
Orbán also expressed his belief that if former President Donald Trump were still in office, Ukraine and Europe would not be experiencing any kind of war. He called for Trump to return to office and “Make America Great Again” to bring peace to the world.
Orbán’s speech was a bold and stirring call to action for conservatives to unite and fight against the progressive forces threatening their values and way of life at home and abroad. His message highlights the importance of defending national sovereignty, traditional values, and the popular will against the liberal elites who seek to erode them.
