Four objects have been shot down by the U.S. military in North America within two weeks, and on Sunday night, Utah Congressman John Curtis called for more information about the events from the highest levels of the federal government.
I am deeply concerned about these repeated events in our airspace," said Curtis in response to a series of questions from KUTV. "Given that there have now been multiple incidents of identified and unidentified objects, the president or secretary of defense should give a public address and provide the American people with answers."
Curtis is not alone in calling for more transparency; a Democratic congressman sounded a similar note over the weekend.
I have real concerns about why the administration is not being more forthcoming with everything that it knows," said Congressman Jim Himes, D-Connecticut.
Ten days ago, the first object — a suspected Chinese spy balloon — was still in the air after it had drifted from Alaska across the continental U.S. and finally off the Carolina coast, where an F-22 fighter jet shot it down.
Then, Sen. Mitt Romney took to Twitter with a blanket suggestion.
"A big Chinese balloon in the sky and millions of Chinese TikTok balloons on our phones," Romney wrote. "Let's shut them all down."
