Actor Val Kilmer died from pneumonia with several underlying causes, his death certificate revealed.

TMZ obtained a copy of the document on Thursday. The certificate listed pneumonia to be the immediate cause, as originally reported, but revealed many attendant factors.

Acute hypoxemic respiratory failure (low oxygen delivery), chronic respiratory failure and squamous cell carcinoma (skin cancer) of the base of the tongue were listed as underlying causes.

Malnutrition and tracheocutaneous fistula (often caused by a tracheostomy to open a hole in the windpipe) were among the contributing factors.

Kilmer died in Los Angeles on April 1 at age 65 after an iconic Hollywood career in which his films earned more than $3.8 billion.

He was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014 but recovered, according to his daughter, Mercedes Kilmer. However, TMZ reported his health continued to decline in his final years, and he was bedridden for months before his death. He was cremated on April 7, the outlet added.

Kilmer starred in “The Doors” and “Batman Forever.” In his final role, he reprised his “Top Gun” character, “Iceman,” who was originally the rival of Tom Cruise’s flying ace, in 2022’s “Top Gun: Maverick.”
