Val Kilmer, an actor who was a force in some of Hollywood’s most memorable films in the 1980s, died on Tuesday, The New York Times reported.
He was 65.
Kilmer is known for starring in movies such as “Top Gun,” Oliver Stone’s “The Doors,” Michael Mann’s “Heat” and Joel Schumacher’s “Batman Forever.”
Kilmer died of pneumonia according to his daughter, Mercedes Kilmer. The actor was diagnosed with throat cancer over a decade ago only to later recover.
The Times was first to report the news of Kilmer’s death.
