LOADINGERROR LOADING

President-elect Donald Trump visited President Joe Biden at the White House on Wednesday, and many people on social media didn’t know how to react to the meeting.

Although Biden and his vice president, Kamala Harris, have repeatedly pointed out the fascist tendencies of both Trump and his MAGA supporters, the outgoing president seemed all smiles at their get-together.

“Donald, congratulations,” Biden said, while shaking Trump’s hand and vowing “a smooth transition” moving forward.

Trump was unexpectedly gracious as well.

“Thank you very much,” he said. “Politics is tough. And it’s, in many cases, not a very nice world. But it is a nice world today, and I appreciate it very much.”

Prior to his meeting with Trump, Biden had already pledged there would be a peaceful transfer of power, saying on Thursday, “I assured [Trump] that I would direct my entire administration to work with his team to ensure a peaceful and orderly transition.”

Biden wasn’t given the same courtesy when he won the 2020 election, with Trump inciting an insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Many people on X, formerly called Twitter, remembered just how polarizing the recent election was and didn’t know how to react to the lovefest mild civility.

Today again everyone will remember @JoeBiden as a man of internal strength, character and dignity. While his candidate lost the election. M. @JoeBiden didn’t call it a fraud but he accepted to do a smoothed transition. Many of us remember how @realDonaldTrump refused to do the…

Part of me is really upset and angry with President Biden for meeting w that traitor, all the while knowing what he'll do to this country and its people. But maybe this will soften trump a little on his anger. I doubt it though.

Trump is so uncomfortable in the company of better men, he knows he's inadequate sitting next to a Statesman

Why does Trump look so much angrier than President Biden in their Oval Office meeting? pic.twitter.com/JSIHGKsQ0k
