NextImg:Trump's Pick For Defense Secretary Once Had An Absolutely Horrific Moment On Live TV

Fox News host Pete Hegseth, who is Donald Trump’s pick for defense secretary, once hit a man with an axe during a live TV stunt that went badly wrong.

In a 2015 segment on “Fox & Friends,” Hegseth hurled an axe at a target while members of the West Point Hellcats marching band performed behind it.

He missed the target completely and hit drummer Jeff Prosperie in an incident that went viral at the time, but is getting new attention in light of Hegseth being tapped for defense secretary:

Fox & Friends co-host Pete Hegseth may have ruined ax throwing on daytime television for everyone else. Members of the Army Hellcats band happened to stand behind the target, and when Hegseth’s throw sailed over the wall, the ax struck drummer! #besmart #besafe #wecandobetter pic.twitter.com/ZNsqqmW0V2

Prosperie said at the time that he was not hit by the blade, but did suffer some cuts on his wrist.

“It could have been much worse or fatal,” he wrote on Facebook, and said it was the result of “obvious negligence.”

“When shooting or throwing, always know what is behind your target,” he wrote.

Prosperie later sued over the incident. It’s not clear if the case was ever resolved.
