What’s in a name? Well, a lot — especially when you’re emailing Ayo Edebiri.
“I have a pet peeve,” the actor confessed in a Feb. 13 interview with W Magazine.
If your name carries a certain je ne sais quoi and flare to it, you’ve likely encountered the many creative ways people can butcher its spelling. Fear not — Edebiri shares your frustration.
“I hate when people write a message to me or send an email to me, or send an email to anybody, and they spell your name wrong in the email or in the message,” “The Bear” star lamented. “That’s just so frustrating to me.″

Her annoyance intensifies when she’s the one who initiates the message and her name is spelled correctly in her email signature — “two ’E’s, two ’I’s, please!” — clear as the eye can see. Even then, people somehow get it wrong.
It’s a point of contention for Edebiri, who cares a lot about remembering others’ names.
“I’m very tuned into how people pronounce their names,” she said. The actor takes this commitment seriously, and admitted she’ll “bug” people until she gets their pronunciation just right.
