“Late Show” host Stephen Colbert said “it got weird” on Wednesday as President Donald Trump defended the budget cuts made by tech billionaire Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency.

“You’ve seen that with some of the things that I read at speeches. I read them, and people can’t believe when I read them,” Trump said. ”$20 million here, $30 million here for, y’know, a little educational course on something. Circumcision, right? Circumcision.”

Colbert was left baffled by the sudden shoutout to “circumcision.”

“That long, rambling response actually reminds me of circumcision,” Colbert said. “Because somebody really should’ve cut that dickhead off.”

Colbert’s studio audience erupted at the joke.

Trump seemed to be referring to a USAID program funding voluntary male circumcision in Mozambique to reduce AIDS transmission, but the president didn’t mention any of those details.
