“Late Show” host Stephen Colbert tore into President Donald Trump for defying a Supreme Court order to facilitate the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Maryland man mistakenly deported to an El Salvador prison.
But there might be an explanation for Trump’s behavior.
As Colbert noted, U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis said accidentally sending Garcia to the notoriously brutal prison “shocks the conscience.”
And that could be the issue: Trump may not have a conscience to shock.
Colbert broke out his impression of the president to explain.
“I’m sorry, shocks the what now?” Colbert said in his Trump voice. “Oh, the little voice in my head? I strangled that sucker a long time ago. It screamed, ‘it’s wrong to kill me’ but once it was gone, I’m telling you, nothing was ever wrong again.”
