The announcement of James Earl Jones’ death on Monday was felt deeply on social media.

Moments after it was announced that Jones died at his home in Dutchess County, New York, at the age of 93, people in the worlds of entertainment and sports took to Instagram and X to honor the actor’s memory.

The most touching post may have been from “Star Wars” actor Mark Hamill, who honored the man who provided the voice of Darth Vader with just two words: “#RIP dad.”

Other luminaries also honored the Oscar-winning actor in their own ways.

James Earl Jones… there will never be another of his particular combination of graces.
