“Saturday Night Live” mocked President Donald Trump’s fondness for Fox News hosts at the top of this week’s episode.
After crashing a Mother’s Day sketch, presidential impersonator James Austin Johnson welcomed his new pick for interim U.S. attorney for Washington D.C., Jeanine Pirro, played by “SNL” veteran Cecily Strong.
“Jeanine will be the newest addition to my incredible team in my administration,” Johnson said.
“And what team, Mr. President. I am so proud to be part of this group full of Russian assets, booze hounds and people famous for the little baby animals they’ve killed,” Strong replied while throwing back a glass of Merlot.
“Oh we love Jeanine. She’s a great legal mind, and she has the most important quality I look for in a lawyer: She’s on TV,” Johnson’s Trump went on. “She’s on ‘The Five,’ which is a show on Fox, kind of like ‘The View.’”
“I’m a Whoopi!” Strong declared.
Reminding everyone of one of Trump’s favorite job qualifications, he said, “I love hiring people from Fox News. They all do an incredible job. Just look at Pete Hegseth, not one mistake.”
“Oh I love Pete Hegseth, he’s my old drinking buddy,” Strong said of the Secretary of Defense who was formerly on “Fox & Friends Weekend.”
As Colin Jost popped in as the scandal-ridden Secretary of Defense, Strong greeted him by spitting wine in his face.
After Jost mentioned how the Navy had lost not one but two jets from going overboard aircraft carriers, Johnson asked his secretary if the snafus had anything to do with rumors of his heavy drinking.
“No, absolutely not, sir. I promised I would never have a bottle touch my lips, but I do have some news to share,” he said, pulling a flask of whiskey from his jacket. “Before I do, Jeanine, do you want to take a swig of this?”
Strong slugged down the liquor but ended up sputtering it straight into Jost’s mouth after he told everyone, “Anyway, I accidentally added Kim Jong Un to the group chat.”
Licking his lips, “SNL’s” Hegseth dupe said, “Oh yeah, that’s the stuff.”
