Protesters Gather For March On The DNC
CHICAGO — Good morning from breezy Union Park, where protest organizers are preparing to hold a march on the DNC. The rally is expected to begin at noon local time, and the organizing coalition is anticipating that thousands of protesters will join.
While protesters are calling for Democrats to implement a wide range of progressive policies, the main issue is the party’s continued support for Israel’s ongoing military offensive in Gaza.
As of now, the park is slowly filling with event marshals in yellow vests, members of the media, and protesters arriving with Palestinian flags, signs and keffiyehs — a patterned fabric that symbolizes Palestinian liberation. Attendees are peaceful, and there is currently no major police presence.
