Pete Hegseth Grilled About His Infidelities, Sexual Misconduct Allegations
Hegseth maintained under questioning by Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) on Tuesday that he had been falsely accused of sexual assault and that he was "fully investigated" and "fully cleared."
Kaine wasn't convinced, however, bringing up the Trump nominee's past infidelities and his being married three times.
"You had just fathered a child two months before by a woman that was not your wife. I am shocked that you would stand here and say you're completely cleared," Kaine said of a 2017 incident in which he was accused of sexual assault. "Can you so casually cheat on a second wife and cheat on the mother of a child that had been born two months before? And you tell us you were completely cleared?"
"I'm not a perfect person," Hegseth replied. "I have failed at things in my life and thankfully I'm redeemed by my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."
But Kaine wasn't satisfied, adding, "I assume that in each of your weddings, you've pledged to be faithful to your wife. You've taken an oath to do that, haven't you?"
