Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” album speaks for itself — at least that’s what the artist told GQ magazine in an interview published Tuesday.

Fans of the Houston legend, known as the Beyhive, have wondered if music videos for her 2022 dance album will ever be released. But aside from “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé,” which dropped in December, Queen Bey hasn’t shared any other visuals for the album. Instead, she told fans during her tour for the project, “You are the visual, baby.”

In her GQ interview, Beyoncé explained why she opted out of having music videos for “Renaissance,” as well as its follow-up, “Cowboy Carter.”

“I thought it was important that during a time where all we see is visuals, that the world can focus on the voice,” she said. “The music is so rich in history and instrumentation. It takes months to digest, research, and understand. The music needed space to breathe on its own.”

“Sometimes a visual can be a distraction from the quality of the voice and the music,” she continued. “The years of hard work and detail put into an album that takes over four years! The music is enough. The fans from all over the world became the visual. We all got the visual on tour. We then got more visuals from my film.”

Ironically, Beyoncé is known for her visual albums — including her iconic 2016 “Lemonade” album.

The GQ interview was published a day after the Country Music Association excluded the superstar singer’s “Cowboy Carter” from its nominations for this year’s CMA Awards.
