NextImg:'No I Don't!': Roy Wood Jr. Gets In Zinger At CNN During New Year's Eve Show

Comic Roy Wood Jr., host of CNN’s “Have I Got News For You,” wouldn’t join the network’s tradition of boozing it up during the New Year’s Eve broadcast for one simple reason.

“Does anyone want a shot?” Andy Cohen asked Wood and others during Tuesday night’s show.

“Oh, no! No, I don’t,” Wood replied. “The last Black man to drink on this network got fired.”

Wood, a former “Daily Show” correspondent, said he’d stick with water, and later added on X:

Not gone catch me slippin in the Deuce-Five. https://t.co/hAGrx3hEJO

Wood’s joke was likely a reference to former longtime CNN host Don Lemon, who was once a staple of the network’s boozy New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Lemon was fired in April, not for alcohol-fueled antics but after he said then-GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley was past her “prime,” comments widely blasted as ageist and misogynistic.

He later apologized.

Lemon is currently hosting a show on YouTube.
