NextImg:'No F**king Way': Nicolas Cage And Christian Bale Look Unrecognizable For Upcoming Film

Amazon MGM Studios has released the first photo of Christian Bale and Nicolas Cage as Al Davis and John Madden, who respectively owned the Raiders NFL team and served as head coach, to promote director David O. Russell’s upcoming film “Madden.”

The image was first exclusively shared Tuesday with Deadline, who reported that the film chronicles Madden’s renowned career as a Super Bowl-winning coach, his lucrative pivot into the video game industry and third act as an Emmy-winning football commentator.

Social media has since erupted, as the two Oscar winners appear almost unrecognizable.

“Bale can turn into anyone. Wow,” wrote one user Wednesday on X, formerly Twitter, with another person commenting: “There are few films I’m looking forward to more than this one. And I’m fully aware this could be a disaster. Don’t care.”

“No fucking way,” a third, more direct user posted.

The photo shows Bale and Cage on a football field, pointing their clenched, Super Bowl ring-adorned fists at the camera. Cage, who appears to be wearing a full-body prosthetic — or have undergone dramatic weight gain — looks remarkably like the titular sports icon.

Bale appears to be wearing a wig to accurately portray Davis’ receding hairline, that is, unless the actor — who has physically transformed himself for numerous roles before — hasn’t simply shaved his own forehead. Production on the film reportedly began Tuesday.

Kathryn Hahn and Sienna Miller star as their wives, Virginia Madden and Carol Davis.

“The film follows Madden’s remarkable journey — from his Super Bowl-winning partnership with Al Davis and the Raiders, to creating Madden NFL, and becoming one of the most iconic voices in football history,” Amazon MGM Studios confirmed that evening on X.

The upcoming film also stars comedian John Mulaney as Trip Hawkins, the founder of the Electronic Arts video game studio that licensed the use of Madden’s name and likeness for a popular franchise that generated more than $4 billion by 2013.

The first look at “Madden” has spawned stunned and enthused reactions on social media.
