Canadian-born comedian Mike Myers used a fashion statement on “Saturday Night Live” to take on Donald Trump over the U.S. president’s attacks toward his native country.
The “SNL” alum, after playing Elon Musk in a surprise appearance during the show’s cold open, later appeared wearing a “Canada Is Not For Sale” t-shirt as he stood alongside host Shane Gillis and musical guest Tate McCrae (a fellow Canadian) as the credits rolled on the screen.
Myers gestured to the tee, which also featured a Canadian flag, before pointing to his elbow and mouthing the words “elbows up” to the camera.
The not-so-subtle swipe from Myers arrives just days before Trump plans to impose tariffs on both Canada and Mexico starting Tuesday, a move that was delayed at the start of last month.
The “Canada Is Not For Sale” motto saw a rise in popularity in January after Doug Ford — the premier of Ontario, which is the country’s most populous province — donned a hat with the phrase that was styled like one of Trump’s “Make America Great Again” hats.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, in response to Trump tying the tariffs talk to claims of illegal drugs entering the U.S., has pointed to his country’s investments in border security and pressed that Canada has billions of dollars worth of U.S. products that will be subjected to tariffs in the weeks ahead.
Trump, in a post to his Truth Social platform this past week, continued to hurl his “51st state” as well as his “governor” attacks toward Trudeau.

Myers previously mocked Trump on “The Tonight Show” in 2018 when he appeared as his iconic “Austin Powers” character Dr. Evil to clown the U.S. president over firings in his first term.
