Melania Trump on Wednesday evening issued a statement on her husband Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 election.

“The majority of Americans have entrusted us with this important responsibility,” she posted on X, formerly Twitter. “We will safeguard the heart of our republic – freedom.”

“I anticipate the citizens of our nation rejoining in commitment to each other and rising above ideology for the sake of individual liberty, economic prosperity, and security,” she continued. “American energy, skill, and initiative will bring together our best minds to propel our nation forward forevermore.”

In one such appearance on Fox News last week, she insisted her husband is “not Hitler.”

Trump’s own former chief of staff, John Kelly, recently warned that his onetime boss would govern like a dictator and that Trump had said positive things about Adolf Hitler when they worked together.

Despite warnings from dozens of people who worked in the Republican’s first administration, health professionals, historians and authoritarianism experts, economists, abortion rights advocates and many others, Trump was resoundingly elected this week to return to the White House.

As first lady, Melania Trump championed a “Be Best” initiative that campaigned for youth wellbeing and sought to combat cyberbullying, which many found ironic given her partnership with a notorious bully.
