Everyone has that weird uncle who completely creeps them out — and we suppose that includes Meghan McCain.
The former co-host of “The View” — who has known Sen. Lindsey Graham since she was child, though they’re not actually related — exhibited disgust when the South Carolina Republican publicly attempted to kiss President Donald Trump’s butt on Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, Graham took to X, formerly Twitter, to share a clip of Trump telling reporters — hopefully jokingly — that he’d like to succeed Pope Francis, who died earlier this month.

“I’d like to be pope,” Trump said with a sly smile. “That would be my No. 1 choice.”
Trump then quickly changed his tune, indicating he could be kidding.
“No, I don’t know. I don’t have a preference,” the president said before mentioning Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the archbishop of New York. Dolan, a conservative with a sketchy past, is the president’s “favorite cardinal” and delivered the traditional prayer at Trump’s first-term and second-term inaugurations. He is also one of 10 American cardinals eligible to vote in the Vatican conclave to elect the next pope on May 7.
Although it’s unlikely that Dolan or Trump will become the head of the Catholic church, it didn’t stop Graham from publicly expressing his fantasy of President Chaos Monster having even more unbridled power.
“I was excited to hear that President Trump is open to the idea of being the next Pope,” Graham wrote on X.
“This would truly be a dark horse candidate, but I would ask the papal conclave and Catholic faithful to keep an open mind about this possibility!”
He added, “The first Pope-U.S. President combination has many upsides. Watching for white smoke…. Trump MMXXVIII!”
MMXXVIII is the Roman numeral for 2028 — indicating that Graham would like to see Pope Trump run for a third presidential term.
It’s unclear if Graham’s tweet was his idea of humor or if he was engaging in unabashed bootlicking. But it seems that McCain felt it was the latter.
“Lindsey - get a grip,” McCain wrote Tuesday while retweeting his post.
Graham was once a close friend of McCain’s father, the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.). Meghan McCain had previously publicly likened Graham to an “uncle.”
But following the 2016 election, Graham swiftly shifted from a Trump critic to loyal apologist. This was despite Trump relentlessly attacking John McCain, even after his death in 2018.
Since then, Meghan McCain has soured on Graham.
“Lindsey Graham may consider himself a member of my family,” Meghan McCain tweeted in 2021. “But he is not and hasn’t been for a very long time.”
