Neil Cavuto will be leaving Fox News after 28 years at the network, Mediaite first reported Thursday.

“Neil Cavuto’s illustrious career has been a master class in journalism and we’re extremely proud of his incredible 28-year run with FOX News Media,” a Fox News spokesperson told HuffPost in a statement. “His programs have defined business news and set the standard for the entire industry. We wish him a heartfelt farewell and all the best on his next chapter.”

Thursday will be Cavuto’s last day, the spokesperson confirmed.

According to Mediaite, Cavuto’s contract is set to expire at the end of the month, and he will give the news of his departure to viewers on his “Your World” program Thursday.

The veteran news anchor has been at the network since it was founded in 1996. He had been anchor of “Your World” on weekday afternoons, as well as “Cavuto Live” on Saturday mornings and Fox Business program “Cavuto: Coast to Coast” on weekdays.

Cavuto’s exit is “not the consequence of any bad blood, but rather an increasingly common industry reality: Cavuto was offered a new contract, which he declined to accept,” Mediaite reported.

He is one of a handful of on-air figures at Fox News who has been willing to criticize Donald Trump and his lies on air, often earning rebukes from the conservative network’s viewers and the president-elect himself.
