Lil Nas X is seemingly on the mend after an unspecified health condition left half his face paralyzed.
The two-time Grammy winner, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, seemed in good spirits in a short video posted to Instagram Monday that appears to have been filmed from a hospital bed.
“This is me doing a full smile right now, by the way,” he said in the clip. “Bro, I can’t even laugh right.”
In the caption of the video, Lil Nas X acknowledged he’d “lost control of the right side of my face,” but offered no further details about his condition or what might have caused the illness.
A representative for the singer and rapper did not immediately respond to HuffPost’s request for comment.
By Tuesday afternoon, Lil Nas X’s post had drawn a plethora of well wishes from some of his famous friends, including actors Taraji P. Henson and Niecy Nash.
Some questioned if he’d experienced a stroke, while others suggested it was likely he’d been stricken with Bell’s palsy or Ramsay Hunt syndrome, two conditions known to cause temporary facial paralysis, usually on one side of the face.
In 2022, Justin Bieber revealed he’d been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, prompting him to cancel his Justice World Tour after 49 performances.
Though Bieber has yet to return to the concert stage, he has continued to share periodic updates regarding his health with fans on social media.

Lil Nas X’s announcement comes just weeks after his appearance at the 2025 GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles, where he and fellow musician Maren Morris presented the award for Outstanding Music Artist to Doechii.
He’s also been teasing a new album, “DREAMBOY,” set for release sometime this year.
