NextImg:Leighton Meester Cutely Dishes On Success Of Husband Adam Brody's 'Hot Rabbi' Character

Leighton Meester says she knows exactly why husband Adam Brody was able to pull off his “hot rabbi” character so successfully in the romantic comedy series “Nobody Wants This,” and argues that it isn’t solely because he’s attractive — though it certainly helped.

“I think everyone’s on board because it’s him,” Meester told E! News on Thursday.

“He is able to embody that because he’s hot, OK?” she explained. ”I said it. And also because he’s truly a wonderful person who was able to bring so much humor and humanity to that role and really make that character and bring a bit of himself to it.”

“Nobody Wants This,” which landed on Netflix last year, follows an unconventional relationship between an agnostic podcaster (Kristen Bell) and a rabbi (Brody). It captivated millennial viewers who could relate to the lives of people from their generation on-screen.

Meester, naturally, thinks “the world” of her husband and fawned Thursday over his 2025 Critics Choice Awards win for best actor in a comedy series earlier this month: “It’s so wonderful. It was a wonderful moment.”

Brody, who has two children with Meester, was also nominated for a Golden Globe.

An actor herself, the “Gossip Girl” alum has managed to wrangle Brody into a cameo in her new comedy series, “Good Cop/Bad Cop.” Meester told E! News that it never feels abnormal to “move our personal life onto set” — which she says feels “very natural.”

“We’ve done it many times, and I hope we get the opportunity again,” she said Thursday.

The couple previously starred opposite each other in several films and television series, including 2011’s “The Oranges,” 2014’s “Life Partners,” 2023’s action thriller “River Wild” and the ABC family drama “Single Parents” (2018-2020).

They’ll presumably next be seen at the upcoming Screen Actors Guild awards, where Brody is nominated for best actor in a comedy series. Whether he takes home a trophy will be seen Sunday, and would be his first-ever win at the ceremony.

“I’m just so so proud of him and think he deserves everything,” Meester said Thursday.
