Isaiah Likely of the Baltimore Ravens and NBA superstar Kevin Durant play different games for a living, but observers of Likely’s overturned touchdown in Thursday’s NFL opener found a link between the two.

Likely caught what seemed to be a touchdown that could have tied or won the game with no time left against the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs.

But a video review revealed that his foot was out of bounds by just a smidge, overturning the score and preserving a 27-20 victory for the host Chiefs.

Knowledgeable fans made an immediate comparison to Durant making a shot that was so close to being a 3-pointer that would have given the Brooklyn Nets a Game 7 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2022 NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals. But it was ruled a 2 because his toes were on the 3-point line, extending the game to overtime where the Bucks eventually won and advanced.

The Durant memes came fast and furious after Likely’s over-the-end-zone-line catch.
