Fox News personality Lara Trump reviewed Democrats’ singing abilities on Wednesday after host Laura Ingraham referred to her musical résumé, a widely-panned discography that’s been the hit with autotune allegations.
The president’s daughter-in-law, who has moonlighted as a singer in recent years much to the amusement of late night hosts, was weighing in on a clip from a sit-in protest that top Democrats attended Sunday on the steps of the U.S. Capitol.
The protest against proposed GOP spending cuts saw Jason Kaufman — cantor of Beth El Hebrew Congregation in Virginia — leading demonstrators in a song about building a world “from love,” a song that appears to stem from one penned by Rabbi Menachem Creditor following the 9/11 attacks.
Ingraham, moments after Trump referred to the protest as a “stunt” by Democrats, swiftly noted that the president’s daughter-in-law is “in music” before asking for her to rate the performance.
“I would say it was very special to witness that and that’s a word that I think could go either way,” said Trump, a former co-chair of the Republican National Committee, as Ingraham chuckled.
“To a zero to 10, I’m going to give them about a .5.”
Social media users got a kick of the clip and mocked Trump, whose releases — including her 2023 cover of Tom Petty’s “I Wont’ Back Down” — have often been hit with waves of online criticism.
