NextImg:Kevin Spacey Dismisses Guy Pearce’s Claims He ‘Targeted’ Him On Set

Kevin Spacey bluntly rejected Guy Pearce’s recent claims that he “targeted” Pearce while they were filming “L.A. Confidential” together in 1997.

“We worked together a long time ago,” Spacey said Tuesday in a clip addressing Pearce on X, formerly Twitter. “If I did something then that upset you, you could have reached out to me. We could have had that conversation. But instead, you’ve decided to speak to the press, who are now, of course, coming after me, because they would like to know what my response is to the things that you said.”

“You really want to know what my response is? Grow up,” Spacey added.

During an episode of the “Awards Chatter” podcast on Sunday, Pearce told The Hollywood Reporter that Spacey, who has faced multiple accusations of sexual misconduct, “targeted me, no question.”

Pearce admitted back in 2018 to having a “slightly difficult time” working with Spacey because he was “a handsy guy.” He said on Sunday’s episode that he was “sort of scared of Kevin,” but that he’d initially brushed off their interactions by telling himself, “Ah, that’s nothing. Ah, no, that’s nothing.”

“But I was young and susceptible, and he targeted me, no question,” Pearce told THR.

In his message on Tuesday, Spacey said that after he and Pearce had filmed “L.A. Confidential,” Pearce took a flight to Savannah, Georgia, “just to spend time with me” while Spacey was shooting another film.

“Did you tell the press that too, or does that not fit into the victim narrative you have going?” he asked. “I apologize that I didn’t get the message that you don’t like spending time with me. Maybe there was another reason, I don’t know, but that doesn’t make any sense that you would have just been leading me on, right? But here you are now on a mission, some 28 years later, after I’ve been through hell and back.”

Spacey added, “You want to have a conversation? I’m happy to do so, anytime, anyplace. We can even do it here, live on X, if you like. I’ve got nothing to hide. But Guy — you need to grow up. You are not a victim.”

HuffPost has reached out to Spacey and Pearce’s reps for comment.

A New York jury found Spacey not liable in 2022 after actor Anthony Rapp alleged that Spacey had molested him when Rapp was 14. Spacey was also acquitted in 2023 on sexual assault charges from four other men.

Spacey also slammed the “Spacey Unmasked” docuseries, which detailed new sexual misconduct allegations against him, in an enraged message on X in May 2024.
