Keke Palmer is peeling back the curtain on her past entanglement with Darius Jackson, offering candid confessions about a romance that veered from fairytale to fiasco.
What began as a seemingly picture-perfect love story unraveled in 2023 after Palmer’s now-infamous interaction with Usher during his Las Vegas residency. The multi-hyphenate star was serenaded by the R&B singer, a moment that sparked a social media meltdown from Jackson — who took to X, formerly Twitter, to publicly condemn Palmer, accusing her of being an unfit mother.
“We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife & mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is,” Jackson wrote. “This is my family & my representation. I have standards & morals to what I believe. I rest my case.”

Now, two years later, Palmer is breaking her silence — and perhaps reclaiming the narrative — with a new song titled “My Confession.”
“This one is personal. ‘My Confession’ is exactly what it sounds like—me giving voice to the feelings I buried,” she shared in an Instagram post on Friday.
Palmer reflected that “closure” doesn’t always arrive in the neatly packaged form we hope for. Sometimes, it comes through radical honesty. Her new single, she explained, is a manifestation of her joy, a personification of her “peace” and “clarity,” and a milestone in a healing journey that seems to have helped her release the residue of past pain.

“I’m not here to play perfect. I’m here to be honest. I’m just here to be Keke,” she said.
On a February episode of her podcast, “Baby, It’s Keke Palmer,” she revisited the viral Usher moment with a mix of awe and hindsight.
“My reaction [to the show] was just like, ‘I can’t believe it, I haven’t seen anybody perform like this in such a long time,’” Palmer said. “Now, obviously, everybody went crazy. We caused some ruckus in my relationship.”
Usher responded, “Yeah, we did.”
