Kanye West has made a striking claim that he didn’t want to have children with his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, amid their brewing custody drama.
During a bizarre interview with podcaster DJ Akademiks, the rapper who now goes by Ye alleged that he knew during the early stages of his former relationship with Kardashian that he didn’t want to start a family with her.
“The situation with Kim, I hear you speak about her a lot,” DJ Akademiks said to Ye, who showed up to the interview in a black hood and robe that was reminiscent of the white outfits worn by the Ku Klux Klan. “But some people will be like, ‘You picked her, you put yourself in that situation.’ They are saying that you don’t take accountability.”
Kardashian, 44, and Ye, 47, share four young children — North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm. The pair have been struggling to co-parent following their failed marriage.
Earlier this month, multiple reports emerged that the Skims founder has been considering stripping Ye of his joint legal custody after he shared a song that seemingly featured disgraced hip hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs and vocals from 11-year-old North, without her mother’s approval.
“No, that was my fault. I take it,” Ye said of having kids with Kardashian. “I didn’t want to have children with this person after the first two months of being with her.”

He added: “But that wasn’t God’s plan.”
Kardashian and Ye tied the knot in May 2014 but the “American Horror Story” actor later filed for divorce in early 2021. Their split was finalized in November 2022.
Ye’s comments about Kardashian come after he faced a public downfall after repeatedly making anti-semitic comments. In recent years, Ye, who announced in February that he was diagnosed with autism after previously being misdiagnosed with bipolar disorder, has also come under fire for insinuating that George Floyd died of a fentanyl overdose instead of police use of force and for proudly wearing “White Lives Matter” shirts, among other incidents ranging from erratic to harmful.
Meanwhile, Kardashian seemingly reflected on her rocky marriage to Ye during an episode of “The Kardashians” last month.

“When you don’t foresee something happening that really changes a person’s personality and then they’re not the same person and you can’t ever get that person back, but you can’t live with the new person,” she told her sister, Khlo.
She continued her thoughts in a confessional, explaining, “It’s tougher when you don’t want your marriage to end off of personal reasons but circumstances change that force your marriage to end.”
Kardashian added: “When you weren’t planning on that and that’s not really the outcome you want but there’s no other option, I think it makes it harder to get over.”
