NextImg:Kamala Harris Is Asked In Interview, ‘Can We Trust You?’
LOADINGERROR LOADING

MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle ended her interview with Kamala Harris Wednesday by asking the Democratic nominee, “Can we trust you?”

“Yes. Yes,” the vice president replied. “I’m not perfect, but I will tell you I’m always gonna put the needs of the people first.”

Ruhle appeared to be posing the question on behalf of American women after Harris picked apart Republican nominee Donald Trump’s recent pledge to be their “protector.” Trump said he could keep women from becoming “abandoned, lonely or scared.” He then added, “You will no longer be thinking about abortion.”

Harris noted that as president, the Republican nominee chose three U.S. Supreme Court judges who helped overturn Roe v. Wade, easing the path for more states to impose tighter restrictions on reproductive care. She also referenced past comments by Trump in which he said “there has to be some sort of punishment” for women who abort in the case of a ban.

“I don’t think the women of America need him to say he’s going to protect them,” Harris said. “The women of America need him to trust them.”

While Ruhle’s “Can we trust you?” could be called a softball question, some viewers praised Harris’ answer. “Direct and unembellished,” one person wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “Brava.”

Another person commented, “No ego. No bravado.”

Fast-forward to 22:30 for the segment about trust:
