MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough on Wednesday expressed his astonishment over the top Trump officials who have so far refused to own the mistake that saw The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg accidentally added to their group chat discussing war strikes in Yemen.
Scarborough suggested they just take responsibility for the gaffe, admit “we f-ed up,” and say they would learn from the lesson and not do it again.
But “they just can’t do it,” he said, noting how instead they’ve opted to sling personal insults at Goldberg and insinuate that something more sinister could be at play.
“I’m sorry, but I think if I were on a national security chain like that, I would be looking at every single number and say, ‘OK, who do we have on here?’” said Scarborough. “I do that. We’re just a cable news show but if I get a list of numbers, I’m like, ‘All right, who’s on here? Identify yourself.’ This is basic stuff even when American lives aren’t on the line.”
Scarborough then suggested that Americans and Fox News viewers “would have loved” an apology
